#39: Not a Real Emergency
Things that are emergencies: injury, illness, heart attack, stroke, getting your head stuck in a cat tree. Things that are not emergencies: getting into a tiff with your dad because he doesn’t want to go to church. I don’t think that emergency services are allowed to force somebody to go to church, and I don’t think anyone who was forced to go to church by the EMTs would really get that much out of the experience anyway.
Something else that is not an emergency: when you hallucinate a dead body and are trying to do CPR on it. However, no matter what caused the person to hallucinate—be it mental illness or drug use—it’s sweet that apparently people in these situations usually try to do something to help. So I guess that’s nice.
