#13: Calling Mom at Work
Our last few stories have been about kids who call 911 because they don’t have a good sense of what is and isn’t an emergency. This story is a little different: what if you are old enough to understand that if you call 911, you might be able to talk to your mom? That’s what can happen if your mother is a 911 dispatcher.
I bet that the mother was not exactly thrilled at having been interrupted in the middle of her shift, and I bet that her supervisors were not entirely thrilled to have the emergency lines tied up by a kid just trying to find her mom. But on the other hand, she had cut her finger, so technically she was in the middle of a medical emergency. Just a very, very mild one.
