#37: Not a Reference Service
Way, way back in the day, before we had the Internet and before any piece of information (along with a whole lot of misinformation) was available at your fingertips, if you wanted to know something, you had to either look it up in an encyclopedia, or you had to call a service. There used to be a number that you could call that would give you the date and time; for more complex information, you could call the reference desk at your local public library.
However, the absolute wrong place to call is 911; they have better things to do than answer dumb questions. And that is extra true now, when most of the questions in the post above could have been answered with a quick Google search. As for the rest, neither 911 nor your public library is going to wake your son up for school, take you to Taco Bell, or set you up with the cute cop who arrested you.
