#37: Expect the Unexpected
Climbing a mountain during a thunderstorm can be very dangerous because you are up high and exposed. If there’s a storm in your area, it’s a good idea to postpone your climb for later. But what do you do if it’s a dry thunderstorm—that is, you’re suddenly affected by lightning, but there isn’t any accompanying rain to warn you that it’s coming?

That’s what happened to this person while climbing one of Colorado’s fourteeners (a nickname given to the 58 peaks in Colorado that are higher than 14,000 feet tall). That’s exactly the wrong sort of place to be when there’s lightning, as this poster found out.
