#42: Life isn’t Easy in Florida
No coastal areas in the United States are completely safe from the threat of hurricanes; Hurricane Sandy taught us that these storms could reach as far north as New York, and California was recently hit by Hurricane Hilary. But still, there are some areas that are definitely at higher risk than others.
And no US state gets hit by more hurricanes than the state of Florida. According to some sources, there have only been 18 years since 1851 when some hurricane or another didn’t hit Florida; these have resulted in more than 10,000 deaths and more than $300 billion in damage.
