#35: Blowing in the Wind
Here’s a person who had an incredibly close miss during a terrible storm. You might be inclined to think that the biggest danger during a storm is lightning, but you also have to look out for damage done by the wind, which can blow debris around or, as in this case, knock branches off of trees.
We’ve talked a lot about hurricanes and tornadoes, but a storm doesn’t have to be classified as either of those to do a lot of damage. According to the US National Weather Service, during strong thunderstorms, winds can gust up to 100 miles an hour and do as much damage as a tornado.
