#42: Ye Olde Plate
Living in a home originally built in the 1700s isn’t for everyone. It requires a lot of patience and willingness to fix and preserve things that have existed for hundreds of years. Every improvement and renovation can be rewarding but challenging. This person lives in an 18th-century era home that has served as everything from a residential home to a tavern.
The homeowner shared that back in the day, people would throw their broken objects and defunct household tools under the house whenever they broke or lost their usefulness. As a result, their home’s foundation is filled with broken pieces of ceramic and so much more. Miraculously, they found an intact plate among the broken trash heaps. The plate looks a little worse for wear, but it’s pretty cool to see a tavern plate that someone from the 1700s probably ate on.
