“They don’t make ‘em like they used to” is a common phrase heard among the older generations. They’re definitely onto something. More and more often, it seems like the objects we buy are intentionally made to be thrown away after a few uses. What happened to the days of high-quality, affordable products built to last? If you’re frustrated by our current shopping landscape, you’ve come to the right place. We’re looking at old objects that have stood the test of time and are still in tip-top shape. From pristine vintage stoves to ‘90s electronics, these retro objects are built to last for generations.
#1: Keeping with the Times
This wall clock has been around for so long that it’s come back into style. Someone’s grandfather has had this clock mounted on this garage wall for decades. It’s a General Electric clock that looks like it’s from the 1950s. It’s still going strong. When something works this well, there’s no reason to replace it.
We love the retro look of this clock. It looks like something out of a vintage all-American diner! Here’s hoping this clock keeps ticking for many years to come. Who knows? The person who took this photo might be lucky enough to inherit it from their grandfather one day. A good clock is hard to find!
