#30: A Real-Life Blast from the Past
This household find is hard to believe, but it’s true! Someone was renovating their bathroom when they found a mysterious handwritten map hidden in a sheetrock wall. The map was a good old-fashioned treasure map. An “X marks the spot” on the map led our storyteller to the attic. They dug under the insulation and found this treasure.

This mysterious object appears to be a Masonic symbol. According to the inscription, it was gifted to someone named Edwin J. Collamore in 1868. Masons often gift a talisman or “jewel” to previous lodge managers. We love how this story plays up the Masons’ “secret society” element. Whoever hid this treasure and created the map sure loved a creative project.
