#36: A Special Religious Object
This homeowner lives in a house built over an 1890s Romani encampment. We’re not sure about the entire history of how or why this house was built on a spot where people were already living. However, our homeowner has found various interesting things that people have left behind over the years.
One of their most beloved home finds is this gold cross. It was found wedged between the cinderblocks of the basement. The origin and age of the cross is unknown, but it appears to be handmade. Our best guess is that it’s a religious folk charm used for healing purposes. Someone probably stashed this away between the basement cinderblocks as a form of good luck.
