#15: We Can See the Future
There are some inventions from the past that we wish still existed. This clear hard-top for convertible cars was introduced in the 1950s. Sadly, it never took off. The novel idea was created by a company called the Fabriform Corporation in Ohio. The new-fangled car accessory was introduced in Los Angeles and sold by a Ford agency in the city.
We will be the first to admit that this hard-top design has some flaws. The plexiglass provides absolutely no protection from the sun. That car would easily become a sizzling hot box during the summer, especially in a place as warm as California. The company wanted to produce tinted versions of the hard top, which would have looked pretty cool. While totally impractical, this cool design has a futuristic appeal.
