It’s always funny to look back and see what kinds of inventions people of the past thought would become the norm of the future. This posed photo of Agent Maxwell Smart from the hit show Get Smart was taken in 1965. Although this mechanical shoe phone isn’t real, it certainly reveals the technological hopes people of the ‘60s had for the future. 

People who saw the shoe phone on Get Smart probably thought of the fake invention as something silly or impossible. No one could have imagined that the cell phone would change the world forever a few decades later. This photo seems weird and quaint to many young people today. However, Agent 86 was on the cutting edge back in the day.
