#16: Hot Coffee To Go
Most of us need our morning coffee or tea to function on a daily basis. How many times have we poured a hot brew in a to-go cup before driving off to work? Before the Starbucks drive-thru, there was the wildly misled Hertella Kaffeemaschine. This strange invention was created specifically for the 1959 Volkswagon Beetle.
We get the idea behind this invention. Who wouldn’t want a cup of freshly brewed coffee on their morning drive? That’s what Dunkin’ and Starbucks are for nowadays! However, this classy-looking coffee machine sat right next to the driver’s seat. Drivers mounted it straight onto the dash of the Beetle, and hot coffee immediately began brewing. There was no temperature control or “off” switch, making this extremely dangerous for a ton of reasons. All reasonable concerns aside, it does look pretty cool and weird.
