At first glance, you might assume that the chaos in this photo is the result of an earthquake. However, it’s much more mundane than that. These poor librarians are sorting through over 50,000 books at the Lorain Public Library in Ohio. In 1971, one library shelf fell over, causing a domino effect with the rest of the shelves. 

Every single bookshelf in this room toppled over because of one little mistake. This photo looks like a scene out of a war novel or apocalypse film! We can only imagine the chaos this accident caused on the library’s Dewey Decimal System. We’re assuming the new library bookshelves were secured to the floor after this incident.
