#14: Disney Devotion
We all love Disney cartoons, right? At least, those of us with a soul and a sense of childlike wonder. And who is more fun than Mickey’s incomprehensible and easily agitated waterfowl friend Donald? And if you don’t think that Donald Duck is a fun character, well, apparently there is an entire Scandinavian nation that would disagree with you.
I love this story. There is something so charming about an entire nation practically shutting down so that they can all watch the same old cartoon that has been showed year after year, possibly since the 1950s. So many people are glued to their TV’s that cell phone usage goes down and people make less emergency calls. I hope that’s because they’re in front of the TV and not getting themselves hurt, rather than because they are getting themselves hurt but would rather watch to the end of the cartoon before they call emergency services.
