#13: Parking Lot Price Wars, May 1949
You can see some pretty wild things in Hollywood, California, but this is one thing we will never, ever see in that city again. This photo, taken on May 10, 1949, shows two parking lots battling it out to attract the most customers. One parking lot charges five cents for parking, while the other charges ten cents.
Five cents for parking in Los Angeles is absolutely ludicrous. Anyone who has been to LA knows that parking is hard to come by. When you do find somewhere to park, you almost always have to pay. Just look at all those available, affordable parking spots back in 1949! Inflation is a wild thing.
