#18: “The Eagle Has Landed,” 1969
Do you remember where you were on July 21, 1969? Pretty much everyone who grew up in the 1960s remembers the first American lunar landing with Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin. This retro photograph captured the historic moment through the eyes of a little girl. The girl is holding a copy of The Washington Post that reads, “The Eagle Has Landed” – Two Men Walk on the Moon.

Needless to say, it was not a slow news day. The concept of humans walking on the moon was mind-blowing to many of us back when it first happened. We can only imagine the sense of wonder this little girl felt as she took in the black-and-white newspaper photos of Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong forging a new path in outer space.
