#9: The Last Laugh
Back in the day (aka, 20 years ago), students would often grumble about how useless math was to their everyday lives. Teachers always had the comeback, “You won’t have a calculator in your pocket to help you,” as a way to drill home the importance of memorizing multiplication and division tables.
Well, look who got the last laugh. We all walk around with the tiniest calculators imaginable – our phones! We have the capability to solve the most complicated of math problems with the tap of a few buttons. We can do math anywhere, any time. We can’t help but wonder what excuse teachers use nowadays to encourage students to focus on their studies.
