#6: Cite Your Sources
Students growing up in the late ‘90s and early 2000s went to school during an interesting time. The internet was becoming more commonplace, but it still wasn’t fully trusted. Back then, many teachers still required research from books and other print sources. It’s wild to think that Wikipedia used to be considered an “unreliable” source. Oh, if our past selves could only see the internet now.
With the increased prevalence of the internet came new ways to research. People over a certain age probably remember the first time they wrote a research paper using only online sources. Nowadays, conducting research on the Internet is the norm. The important part is knowing how to find reliable, accurate information that is based on fact and not wild speculation. Cite your sources!
