#15: The Truth Behind Color Blindness
It’s a common myth that girls and women can’t be color blind. You probably heard this growing up. It’s still a prevalent myth to this day. The truth is that color blindness isn’t only found in men. Women can be color blind, although it’s much more rare. The rarity of female color blindness is probably where this misleading claim came from.

Let’s talk statistics. About 1 in 12 men are color blind, while 1 in 200 women are color blind. Color blindness is inherited, and it mostly affects Caucasian males. That doesn’t mean that no one else can be color blind, though! The misleading claim that women can’t be color blind has probably led to a lot of confusion for people.
