Women can be color blind, although it’s much more rare. The rarity of female color blindness is probably where this misleading claim came from. 

Let’s talk statistics. About 1 in 12 men are color blind, while 1 in 200 women are color blind. Color blindness is inherited, and it mostly affects Caucasian males.
