#1: The Food Pyramid
If you’re a kid of the ‘90s, the food pyramid is undoubtedly burned into your memory. Schools, teachers, and parents drilled that colorful triangle into our little heads to encourage us to eat a healthy diet. The thing is, the food pyramid was, for lack of a better word, wrong.
The food pyramid of the ‘90s was based on outdated information. It turns out that 11 daily servings of carbs is not necessary. Huh. Who would have thought that a diet focused on fruits, vegetables, and proteins was more well-rounded? The food pyramid was replaced by MyPlate in 2011.
