#8: The Leader Among Us
Every country has a different culture, a different language, and different habits. Even if you travel to a country that speaks the same language, you might learn they have different customs and different social conventions. Essentially, what this story comes down to is a culture gap, one of the many between Canada and the U.S.
When this girl was a waitress in Canada, she served a group of Americans who all ordered a glass of wine. She suggested that rather than taking a glass each, they would all share a liter of wine. After taking a few moments to think it through, one person spoke up and said, “I’ll be the leader.” Perhaps they weren’t familiar with this concept from pubs back home, and perhaps it was her accent that confused them. Either way, they completely misunderstood what she was trying to say.
