#16: We All Fell for It
Kids believe a lot of funny things, but the most hilarious thing kids believe is that their parents, or all adults for that matter, have things figured out. If they didn’t believe adults know what they are talking about it would be a lot harder to raise and educate them and prepare them for life.
So, in order for the concept of parenting to work, kids have to believe their parents have life figured out. As kids grow up and become adults they learn it’s all a fraud – adults don’t necessarily have life figured out. They don’t necessarily know what they’re doing. This is the most effective scam of mankind.
