#27: The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread
Sliced bread is ubiquitous these days. In fact, the only way to get a loaf of bread that isn’t presliced is to go to a bakery, or at least the bakery section of your local grocery store. So, like many of you, I assume, I have never thought much about bread slicing or when and how it started.

But now I’m an expert! It’s extraordinary that this man was so convinced of the utility of a bread-slicing machine that he remained dedicated to the idea for 16 years. Most people would have given up well before that time, and if Otto had done the same, we would have to slice our bread, which is some days more effort than I’m willing to expend. So, thanks, Otto.
