#3: Excuses, Excuses
Sometimes, we feel like people in the past are so far removed from us that they must somehow be really different. What could I have in common with someone who lived 3000 years ago on another continent, spoke another language, and lived in a different culture from me?
But then you see something like this and realize we have much in common with the people who came before us. Just as you have to call your boss to explain why you’re not going to be there, so did the ancient Egyptians, although obviously, it wouldn’t have involved a telephone call. The question is, how many of these excuses are legitimate, and how many of them are just because someone wanted the day off work?
