#8: The Silence is Deafening
When I was in elementary school, we took a field trip to a local university, which had a room in the science building where every surface was covered in fiberglass insulation so that nothing echoed. It’s been years, and I still remember the strangeness of being, for the first time in my life, in a place where the only sounds I could hear were the ones that I was making.
So I’m not really surprised that people don’t like a car that replicates the experience. We have become so accustomed to constantly having some kind of background noise, whether it’s the low hum of our refrigerator or the noise from distant cars, that it’s weird to be without it. Some experiences are just not enjoyable, no matter how well-intentioned they are.
