You’ve probably heard them all countless times: “Don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater,” or “Everything happens for a reason,” “Don’t judge a book by its cover” or “A picture is worth a thousand words!” We can go on all day, but we’ll stop here. As a society, for some inexplicable reason, we thrive on popular (and antiquated) sayings to get us through life. Pearls of wisdom from times gone by. For some people, these sayings might actually help them feel better. But we don’t know any of these people. Most of us are tired of these clichés, and these people were so over them, they took to social media to disprove them. Here are photos featuring folks who disprove these very phrases.
Money Can Buy Happiness
Undoubtedly, you’ve heard the saying, “Money can’t buy happiness.” The person who posted the following in the image below begs to differ. “Poverty can’t buy anything,” they said. That definitely smacks of truth. If you’re bereft of money, you can’t buy anything. Nothing is for free. Everything comes at a cost – literally and figuratively.
That being said, the original phrase is also true. While money can certainly give you luxury and opulence, it can’t instill in you a sense of happiness. That comes from within. There are plenty of folks in the world who have little but still don’t want for much. Why? Because they value what they do have.
