An HR Betrayal
Many people say that the HR department’s main objective is to protect the company, not its workers. This story, unfortunately, proves that is true. Our storyteller overheard a woman who worked in HR publicly shame a factory employee while on the job. The factory worker was pregnant and was requesting to move departments.
She didn’t want her and her baby to be exposed to so many chemicals, but she still needed to work. Transferring her to a less abrasive and risky department should have been easy. Instead, the woman in HR responded, “You should have thought about that before you got knocked up.” That type of insensitive response sounds like a lawsuit in the making.
