An Iconic Exit Interview
This storyteller had a colleague who was leaving the company at just the right time. On the day of his exit interview, a new manager called a team meeting to introduce himself. This new manager was, by all means, awful. During the course of this team meeting, the manager spouted off sexist and racist stuff that doesn’t fly in an office environment nowadays.
During the colleague’s exit interview a few hours later, he brought up the new manager, joking that they had probably received a lot of complaints about him already. The HR employee had no idea what he was talking about, so he spilled the beans. The new manager’s behavior got him fired that same day. If this colleague didn’t have an exit interview that day, who knows how much this manager would have gotten away with.
