“They Ran Off to Europe Together”: HR Reps Share the Different Office Scandals They Have Seen on the Job

The coworker in this story is either a truly dedicated employee or they’re extremely good at living in denial. An HR attorney had to fire a woman at a large agency for dereliction of duty, and things took an unexpected turn. After the unpleasant experience of laying someone off, the attorney and her boss went to lunch. 

Upon their return to the office, they were surprised to see the recently-fired employee working at her desk as if nothing had happened. When the attorney confronted her about why she was still working, the ex-employee completely denied the termination. She even responded with, “You can’t just fire me. This is my job.” We can’t help but wonder if she’s still sitting at her desk working to this day.
