A Smooth Transition
Sharing a transitioning experience in the workplace can be a tricky, difficult, and sometimes scary experience for trans folks. Some workplaces and coworkers can be openly hostile towards people who come out as trans or go through a transition. You just never know how people are going to react. Thankfully, this company’s culture was very positive and welcoming after one of its employees returned from a three-week vacation.
Gary returned to work as Mary, and all of her coworkers were very chill about it. The person who shared this story was one of her coworkers and explained that they didn’t witness any bullying or negativity surrounding Mary’s transition. Everyone was pretty surprised, but no one created an unhealthy work environment, which is awesome.
