#36: Watch what They Are Doing
Hermit crabs don’t have shells; they often use discarded shells of other animals to keep their soft tail protected. So, we can’t say for sure why this glassblower decided to make a glass shell for a hermit crab, but perhaps they had his best interest in mind. Or maybe it just seemed like an interesting art project.
It certainly looks interesting and was probably fun to make! As cool as the first photo is, this is another one of those times when the comment outshines the original post. In reply to the original poster’s claim that “an artist has made glass shells for hermit crabs so he can watch what they are doing,” one person replied, “pervert.” When you put it like that… it does sound a bit suspicious.
