#17: Zune
We’re all familiar with the concept of large companies creating very similar products to compete. Well, when Apple came out with the incredibly successful iPod (that’s a burst of nostalgia!), Microsoft knew it was its turn to make a move. So it came out with Zune, a portable music player that unfortunately just didn’t live up to the hype that the iPod received.
Not only did Microsoft wait for five years after the iPod’s release before producing the Zune, but it also didn’t come out with any new or proprietary features for the technology. Zune was quickly forgotten as just another unsuccessful MP3 player, while the iPod went on to become the legendary iPhone.
