#13: The Fat-Free Fad
Ah, the fat-free fad diet. We remember it well. The idea that all fat was bad fat became pretty prominent in the ‘90s. It became so ingrained in the American psyche that it even carried over to the 2000s. Marketing efforts had everyone convinced that any type of fat would make you immediately gain weight.

Fat-free foods that had no business being fat-free hit the market. As most of us now know, there is such a thing as “good” and “bad” fats for our bodies. Fats found in nuts, fish, and olive oil are great for lowering cholesterol and controlling inflammation. While taking care of our bodies is good, it’s even better to keep a critical eye on fad diets that promise a completely transformed body and existence.
