A Time Gap
At this point, it is not surprising that there was a gap between the writing of the Old Testament and the New Testament. However, it is somewhat surprising to learn how large that gap is. It appears that there were at least four centuries that passed between these writings – and to think nowadays, we get annoyed when Netflix delays our favorite show’s seasons.
This biblical fact points out that those gap years are collectively referred to as the “silent years” since now writing was going on. This is at least part of the reason why it took so long for the full version of the Bible to reach a point of completion. God was really taking his time with it!
