A Relatively New Development
This Bible fact tells that the Bible was not always neatly divided into convenient chapters and verses. At one point, these familiar segments did not exist at all. It was not until 900 AD, centuries after the Bible was written, that people began to divide it into pieces that were a bit more digestible.

Even an avid reader knows that long stretches of unbroken text can be tiresome, so this biblical change was a wise one. Who knows how many people stood a better chance of taking in the Bible simply because those divisions made it easier to read? If you’re a Bible reader, can you imagine how difficult it would be to find your favorite lines if they were not organized as they are today?
