#11: Mount Saint. Helens
May 18, 1980, is a day that went down in the history books. As many of us know, that is the day Mount Saint Helens erupted and became the deadliest volcano event in recorded U.S. history. Eerily enough, someone took a photo of this majestic peak on May 17, 1980. Little did they know that they would be taking one of the last photos of Mt. St. Helens before she exploded.
The photo on the bottom shows the volcano four months after that fateful volcanic explosion. The entire area surrounding the volcano was completely decimated. The top of the mountain even blew off during the explosion. Volcanic eruptions are no joke. If they are powerful enough, they can completely change their surrounding environment.
