#14: Birds of a Feather
Bald eagles are truly majestic creatures. Thanks to the Endangered Species Act, this majestic bird of prey is no longer endangered or threatened. They are still very elusive and rare to the human eye. Most of us never get to see or interact with a bald eagle unless we go to a zoo.
The bald eagle’s elusiveness might be why the size of this feather is so surprising. This photo shows how large a bald eagle’s feather is compared to a grown man’s hand. It’s huge! Most of us have no idea how large these birds truly are. The average bald eagle is over two feet tall. Their wingspan is often over six feet, making them larger than the average human by a long shot.
