#10: Battle of the Brains
Who knew the brain of a shark and the brain of a dolphin looked so different? It’s perhaps more shocking to realize that a dolphin’s brain looks a lot like a human one. Pretty wild, right? To humans, sharks and dolphins might seem similar. They’re generally the same shape, and they live in the ocean. How different could they be?
Well, their brain sizes show just how different they are. Sharks have very small brains relative to their body size. They operate primarily on instinct. Although some species of sharks have shown social bonds, they don’t interact or make decisions with the same reasoning power as dolphins. We might be biased toward dolphins because their brains look like ours. Who knows?
