#7: Seal Sea Sickness
Despite their aquatic mastery, seals can actually get seasick if you put them on a boat. These marine mammals are well adapted to life in the water, with a streamlined body and flippers for efficient swimming. However, the rocking and swaying motion of a boat can disrupt their sense of balance, leading to motion sickness – just like us humans.
Much like humans, seals rely on their inner ear for balance, and the constant movement of a vessel can confuse their sensory perception. While it might seem surprising, this vulnerability to seasickness is a reminder that even the most skilled oceanic creatures have their limits when it comes to adapting to the unique conditions of life at sea.
