#10: Lake Mead Drastic Water Drop
The transformation of Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States regarding water capacity located on the Colorado River, from 1983 to 2021 is shocking and a wake-up call for all of us. Once brimming with water, it’s now only at 35% capacity due to a historic drought and increased water demand.
This vast reservoir provides essential resources to over 40 million people, vital for agriculture and power generation. The significant decline in its levels impacts the supply, possibly leaving millions without electricity. This alarming situation highlights the urgent need for sustainable water management and action on climate change.
