#17: Driving Lessons
This next one made me smile. When I was a kid, when we were out camping, my dad would take us out to the middle of nowhere, onto dirt roads with no one for miles, and let us sit on his lap and steer the car while he worked the brake and the pedal.
It might not have been legal, but it was definitely a great introduction to driving for us; by the time we were old enough to go to driver’s ed classes, we already had some experience steering a real car, watching for obstacles in the road, following a given path… What I’m saying is it’s nice to let kids learn to drive with you. As long as there’s no chance that they’re going to accidentally commit vehicular manslaughter.
