#34: Cookie Questions
OK, sneaking some forbidden junk food, bonding with dad, all very charming stuff. But I’m not interested in any of that. There is exactly one detail of this story that I cannot wrap my brain around, one that I keep going back to, the way you can’t keep from prodding your loose tooth with your tongue.
What in the heck kind of sugar cookies was Grandma making that were supposed to be stored in the pantry for two months? What kind of cookies last that long without being frozen? How did they not get totally stale and disgusting? Is this witchcraft, or were all sugar cookies weird and gross and hard back then, so a 2-month-old sugar cookie wouldn’t be that noticeable?
