#3: Who Knew Arctic Hares Were So Big?
We all think we know what rabbits and hares look like, but these arctic hares are really something else. In fact, if it weren’t for the upright hare in the foreground I’m not sure I would recognize the others as living creatures at all, rather perceiving them as some kind of pretty white rocks covered in snow.
It’s not that Arctic hares, in general, are a particularly giant species, but somehow, here we stumbled on a group of huge ones. Of course, there is always the added element of forced perspective. If we put humans in this photo, we might discover that we’re actually looking at normally-sized hares.
