#27: Where Do They All Fit?
The animal kingdom presents some fascinating variations when it comes to teeth. The giant armadillo of South America stands out among mammals, boasting a remarkable 74 teeth. However, the unassuming garden snail truly takes the cake in the dental department. These tiny creatures possess an astonishing 14,000 teeth, and some individuals can grow up to 25,000 teeth in their lifetime.
What’s even more intriguing is that these teeth aren’t located in their jaws but in their tongue-like structure called a radula. This unique adaptation allows snails to scrape and grind their food effectively, highlighting the incredible diversity of dental structures in the natural world.
