#18: Stand Left, Walk Right, But Also Stand Right
If there’s one thing that seems to absolutely baffle many people, it’s the notion of standing on one side of an escalator or moving sidewalk so that people can walk by on the other side. This rule makes life so efficient, but many people just cannot figure it out.
But when where to stand and where to walk is as badly marked as this, maybe I can understand why people get confused. I guess most people are supposed to stand on the left, but the 3rd step needs to stand backward; the 5th step stands on the right, and nobody stands on the 4th or 6th step so that people walking can dodge around the guy on the 5th step. Yeah, I can see how that would confuse people.
