#13: Reverse Potato Psychology
Even though potatoes are now a popular food worldwide, the people of France once saw them as unfit to eat. Of course, potatoes are edible, and being the first to sell them could make someone incredibly rich. The only issue was that there was no demand at the time.
A pharmacist named Parmentier was smart enough to devise a plan to change the public’s perception of potatoes. By placing armed guards around a small potato farm, he created intrigue regarding what crops were so valuable that they needed protection. People became so envious that they began stealing the food they once considered unfit for consumption.
