Classical Art Memes That Are Too Accurate

We’ve all been there – you invite friends over for a dinner party, everything goes smoothly, you’re having a nice time, but at some point, you’ve had enough, and you’re ready for everyone to leave. However, your friends have other plans in mind. They don’t seem ready to end the evening, so you’re forced to start dropping subtle hints, like yawning, to let them know the party’s over.

This is a self-portrait by French painter Joseph Ducreux, who became known for his fascination with physiognomy and exploring the range of facial expressions in his portraits. You can see an example of that in the meme above – where he’s depicted in what seems like mid-yawn, but could really be expressing a range of emotions.
