#36: The Sport of Crashing Trains
Back in the day, trains crashing into each other was a spectator sport in the United States in the mid-19th century. This is very interesting, though random, because train crashes used to be very dreadful situations that left many devastated. But somewhere during this time, someone thought the whole idea was grand and decided to create a sport where people congregated to watch trains crash into each other. Riveting.
Now, this kind of makes sense because people in the 20th century enjoyed watching monster trucks and huge cars crash into each other repeatedly. I guess people just like the destruction of it all, which is sad, but then again… it is cool to see things crash into each other. Right? Maybe not? The jury’s still out on that one.
