#12: Land in the Black Emptiness of Space
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” It’s a lovely sentiment, isn’t it? Imagine falling through space and landing on a canopy of stars. Well, except in real life you’d burn. Also, there’s this: “Actually, you’ll land among the black emptiness of space, since stars are very, very far away from the moon.”
Consider that a star-burn from the person above! While the imagery this phrase conjures is quite ethereal and lovely, it’s also unrealistic. In reality, you’d just float through space because there’s no gravity. Just aimlessly and endlessly spin through the vast expanse of our universe. You may not find a way back to Earth. How’s that for a metaphor?
